We recently had opportunity to mouth with the plaster bandage and bunch of Tron Legacy and hear some tantalizing anecdote about the film ’s yield … like the time Daft Punk hold a rave on set . Spoilers on !
1 . ) Michael Sheen found his character , the nightclub possessor Castor , on glam stone legends .
My whole living has been inspired by [ T. Rex tether singer ] Marc Bolan and David Bowie . We talked about the quality [ and agreed … ] that he should be larger than spirit when he appears . He brings a whole dissimilar [ component ] to the pic . He ’s very Chamaeleon - like . He has many facets and personalities , and you do n’t where you stand with him . I like the thought of someone who ’s reinvented himself over and over again . So all those thing inevitably led me to Ziggy Stardust .

2 . ) Bruce Boxleitner saw the film for the first fourth dimension with the pressure and got a piddling choked up . He was also somewhat shock to ultimately see a digital , de - aged version of himself appear as Tron in a flashback .
I ’ve cognise the script in various level for over a year now and luckily I forget most of it . I knew my part in the beginning and the end , but in the center , I model there with my mouth open and I set out to get a short emotional towards the end [ … ] When you see the Recognizers and the Solar Sailer , they resonate with you [ … ] I saw a young variation of myself take the air on photographic camera last dark for the first meter . It was quite amazing , and I had a great haircut too ! It ’s freakish !
3 . ) The programs are get blotto on nanotechnology .

At one peak , I asked Michael Sheen what the liquid was that the programs were drinking in the nightclub scenes .
Me : Michael , you play the nightclub entrepreneur who run Tron City ’s End of the Line Club . What exactly are the programs drinking at the prevention ?
Michael Sheen : I remember when they bring out the drinks — did you see [ Tron theatre director ] Steve Lisberger as the bartender ? — and the drinks had lights in them . Everything they could put a illumination in , they put a light source in . These drinkable they bring on , it ’s probably some kind of crude , some sort of motor fluid .

Me : Like peradventure some liquified codification or something ?
Sheen : Maybe .
Bruce Boxleitner : What do you want it to be ?

Me : Some sort of nanotech ? liquidity 1s and 0s ?
Sheen : Yeah , it ’s not actually liquid , it ’s probably gobs of mini - computers that go in your system and houseclean you out !
4 . ) Screenwriters Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis , who had previously worked on Lost together , really did n’t want to make an “ Internet Tron Movie . ”

Adam Horowitz : We never desire to do an internet motion-picture show and be like , “ Uh oh , here amount the Viagra advertizement ! Get the lightcycles ! ” For us , this was a earth like Oz or Pandora .
Edward Kitsis : Once you get in it , there are very few references to engineering . We really did n’t want to remind the audience geographically where we were . It ’s this new existence , and we do n’t talk about “ go down to the unvoiced drive ” or “ get RAM . ” We really seek to stay away from that hooey , so you get overtaken by this unexampled universe [ … ]
Adam Horowitz : In 1982 , Steven Lisberger was posing these really interesting ideas that just started becoming on-key twenty years subsequently , with the macrocosm of The Sims and Second Life and just the idea of everyone have avatars , even if it ’s just your Facebook page [ … ] We did n’t want to get too lose in the science of it all , but we looked at ideas futurist and scientists consider will affect us in 20 or 50 year .

5 . ) The original Tron was a bit of a subversive film within Disney back in the 1980s .
Tron director Steve Lisberger : It ’s a little morsel like the central Tron group was the new the great unwashed who watch it in the former 80s , and they became the digital native who mature up with this technology over the tenner [ … ] and when they drive to the point where they were producer and writers and directors , the push was there .
I become through a muckle of administrations at Disney , all the means from the one that made the first Tron — who had never get wind the parole “ user ” before and wondered if this was the film of a madman — all the way of life to [ Tron Legacy producer ] Sean Bailey , who is of the technology of the day .

6 . ) Daft Punk obligate a rave on pose one night .
Tron Legacy director Joe Kosinski : We meet [ Daft Punk ] early on about three eld ago , before there was any script , before there was the visual impression psychometric test . It was one of the first meetings of the project . I chop-chop realized that the cat and I had a good creative vibe . We wanted to make a classic moving picture account that sounded like nothing else . We begin on the medicine very early and build the soundtrack as we were writing the hand and storyboarding and pre - visualizing the motion-picture show . I was very lucky to have tracks act on set while we were shooting . The film was edited when the music had been compose — there ’s a connection between the music and the visuals in this motion picture [ … ]
Producer Sean Bailey : Here ’s a cool footling anecdote . One nighttime one of the camera go down so we could n’t shoot for a couplet hour . So there was this ad-lib rave in the Tron warehouse in the midsection of the night with Daft Punk deejaying .

Joe Kosinski : Everyone was in costume !
Sean Bailey : We just had a dance party at four in the morning .
7 . ) Fans in Hall H at Comic - Con voiced the arena scene .

Joe Kosinski : We were just startle the sound portion , and the guy wire at Skywalker [ Ranch auditory sensation studio ] were telling me , “ You have all these arenas and all these specific chants — that ’s a very strong affair to fabricate . You ’ve get to find a thousand people who are willing to follow chant . ” So we were look at sports stadium , and I realized , “ Wait a minute ! I ’ve got Comic - Con get ! Let ’s record the Comic - Con residence and get our crowd reaction in Hall H. ” So we did it — all the gang in the disc wars succession are Comic - Con fans in Hall H. It was fun to put the fan who confirm us in the picture show itself .
