If you do n’t have the clock time , though , what watch over is n’t a bump by blow of The Shining . It ’s a recap of the basic facts from the film you need to know to to the full prize Doctor Sleep .

The Basics

The Shining is the story of the Torrance family , husband Jack , wife Wendy , and their son Danny . Jack is a former school day instructor in motive of body of work who takes a job as the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel in Colorado . His job is to stay there through the wintertime and maintain the place since all the other employee are snuff it . He brings his family along with him and his programme is to write a novel in the downtime . He learns about this when the hotel ’s headspring chef , Dick Hallorann , senses Danny ’s power and communicates with him . Dick also skin and tells Danny if there are any problems , to get in cutaneous senses with him . finally , he does .

The Overlook

The Overlook has a shuddery history . In the cinema , Dick Hallorann explicate that it has powers of its own and Jack is tell that the former caretaker , Delbert Grady , went crazy and killed his kinsperson . Which , let ’s be reliable , should have been a signal .

Room 237

One of the first affair Dick tell Danny ( who is called “ Doc ” by his mammy and Dick ) is not to go into room 237 . It ’s an especially evil room and going into it is never good at any point . So , of course , it becomes a very important spot in both films .

Lots and lots of ghosts

As Jack commence to lose his idea , he meet several wraith in the Overlook who come out as normal hoi polloi . There ’s a bartender named Lloyd who serves Jack a drink in the Gold Room , even though all the pot liquor was meant to be conk for the off - time of year . The End

Sensing something is wrong , Dick come back from his vacation to try and help Danny and Wendy , but is killed by Jack when he flummox to the Overlook . Ultimately , Jack freezes to end outdoors in the hotel ’s monumental hedging snarl and Wendy and Danny leakage . The Overlook remain .

Now , apparently , there ’s much more to The Shining than that . But , without bollix anything , those basic fact and plot points are the important ones to know going into Doctor Sleep — as well as remembering some of the more iconic images from the Kubrick , seen in the photograph above .
