Winner – Pine Paint
I dissipate this picture of a pine Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree in my front yard with a Panasonic GH2 . I require the instruction to heart and started click picture with abandon as presently as I got home from piece of work . On this one I set a slow shutter speed and slant the tv camera up and down the tree as I crack the exposure . I knew I would get some blurry , drop back effigy but I was amazed at how much it made the tree look like a painting on a sail . I have intercourse these eccentric of photographic abstractions . I record the shooting challenge information page and immediately knew what I was go to do ; longsighted - exposure automobile picture taking , at night ! So I strike my television camera and adjust it to bulb manner at f/18 and I wait for cars to amount and I hold the shutter button down and move the tv camera in every which way . This was the resulting photo and I think it looks pretty overnice ! Equipment and configurations : Sony A200 with 18 - 70 mm Kit Lens , f/18 with 15 2nd vulnerability ( Bulb modality ) at ISO 100 .

So , doing a photoshoot with a model and had the gibe plain set in my judgement , thought I had autofocus on , and took a shaft , looked back , and go “ d’oh ! ” , readjusted and run on my means . Hours afterward , doing the importation and quick to just edit when I look at the foggy pic again and give-up the ghost “ what a consummate fail ! ” kick the contrast and black floor up a few notches and converted to b&w , and voila , a Fail of a exposure that ’s double-dyed for Gizmodo ’s Fail Contest . Also , to fill out the fail , while shoot this , I was in the water … and leave behind my wallet full of cash and a paycheque in my back pocket . Total Fail . I ’ve been meaning to start doing the Shooting Challenges forever , and this one seemed as dear as any to start . When I first lead off studying picture taking some of my favorite photo ’s were the ones I totally get it on up on . I exploit in a program ascendancy room , and thought that the luminance from the monitors would be really interesting , if I shot it all out of focus . I shot this on my Canon 5D at 50 mm 1/25 at f/2.8 at 400iso . I coiffure the direction to macro and stood about 8 feet back .

Oops I “ accidentally ” kicked the bottom of my tripod . Not really much of a taradiddle about this exposure . I took the power train to get there . That ’s exciting powerful ? Ohh , and some intoxicated fisherman seen me set up and picture me a pic of a rainbow . He take it with his cell speech sound and was really lofty of it . Being nice I say him that it looked great . Happy Accident
Taken with a Canon Rebel XSI with an 18 - 55 millimeter outfit lens of the eye . My protagonist and I decided to attempt to take bokeh shaft with dealings light , but I could n’t seem to get it quite right . Eventually I became shopworn of essay and congeal my shutter to bulb and shook my camera around ! This is the “ happy accident ” that resulted .

I decided to fail by shooting at a far away subject on farsighted zoom , with a slow shutter speed , while attempting to get as clear a shot as possible . I choose a few tower crane on the horizon , zoomed up close , and set my photographic camera for a 1 second picture . I loved the way this one plough out , so I align the direct contrast a number and voila . Pure , beautiful fail . I also ( accidentally ) failed at meeting the 8 AM EST deadline this morning . I go for you will forgive me .

Blue Vinyl (Skin)
The combination of recently purchasing my first DSLR and the River Roar boat races meet some crowd in my little river town ( Marietta , Ohio ) , finally pushed me to attempt one of these challenges . After several pitiable attempts at accept interesting bad image I remember this SUV cover in vinyl skin with ridiculous patterns that is normally parked down by the levee . I weaved through the crowd and found the SUV in a mostly empty lot . I focused on the back window , put my shutter speeding to a half of a second and spun the camera as I took the mental picture . There was no further handling . I discover the result to be queerly like several of the Windows Vista nonremittal desktops I ’ve seen . pip with my Canon Rebel T3i , 18 - 135 mm , ISO 100 , f/36 .

I have had my percentage of photography fails before , but one that I had a lot was motion in my photos , since I did n’t have a tripod . Now that I have a tripod , I thought it would be perfect to have a controlled motion fail . This was sprout on my Canon XSi ( Tripod mount ) 1.6″ , F/2.0 , iso 100 with my 50 mm 1.4 lens . I worm the tripod after releasing the shutter to give the move blur .

Well I was guide some long exposure photos of this multicolored led lamp on my desk ; and after a bunch of pellet I was messing with the soar not knowing I had hit the shutter button , so I build up on it and this is what came of it .

My friend and I were doing some light painting while camping , so I wanted to see if it was possible to cancel a photo once you press the shutter when using Self - Timer . Apparently you could , but I could n’t stop this one . So I just start walk while the picture was being taken .

I was on my elbow room back from Salt Lake City when I check this photo op so I promptly pull off the destitute way and prove my helping hand at costless lensing which I love doing now and again . of necessity there was some serious FAIL involved before I make the injection I wanted but I think I almost like the fail picture more than the “ proper ” one . Shot with a 5D Markii , 85L f/1.2 , free lensed , processed in LR and PS .

This flick was taken at a lily pad on Lake Sammamish in tolerant daylight . The lily petal were improbably bright liken to the leaf and turbid water . My fail was to dramatically underexpose the guessing as a whole . I set the genus Lens to f/11 , the shutter velocity to 1/2500 sec , but stuck with ISO 160 to reduce noise . I contact it up a little in Lightroom . I used a Panasonic G3 in shutter - priority style with an previous manual - focussing L39 Russian 55 mm f/2.8 lens .

After arriving in San Francisco from a holiday I noticed that there was a complete shot of the full moon quick to be convey . I meant to take a picture of it with full exposure ( to give it a more majestic flavor ) but while attempt to get in the right smirch to take it , I turn on over luggage . I ended up with this picture of cars speed by the pavement in the drome . Btw I took this with my HTC EVO smartphone at 1250 ISO . Also , encase your wondering I still generate that picture of the Sun Myung Moon :)
