The second installment of Being Human , while still trying to find its base , continues to feel a property in our hearts . Last night we learn the vampire turn “ undead Revolutionary War soldier , ” and the loup-garou howl over his latest defeat .
The dear
The show piece up right where it left off : fleetly untangling the muggy mess it leave behind in the pilot burner . We ’ll address the bumps in the road later on , but for now here ’s what we enjoy .
Ghost girl — Sally — seemed much more at home with her two monster roommates . This week , thank goodness , Sally was give slightly better jokes and seemed to march in step with the fellas telling comedic timing . Her delivery is by no way staring ( and that could be convert just by give her salutary transmission line ) but it ’s getting there . I laughed when the pitiful Josh opened the door only to see Sally , proclaiming that while she ’s really , really happy Josh did n’t kill his babe , she ’s got news . It fits with the much chipper Americanized version this Sally is becoming . But I can only trust that by making the ghost girl so saccharine , the writer are only prepping her for an even more annihilating fall afterward . If not , then this “ Casper the favorable touch ” schtik is going to get hella old , real tight .
But at the end of the night , this episode was all Josh .
Sam Huntington ’s endearing puppy facial expressions made for the complete moral grasp throughout this episode . Watching him recoil in repulsion upon finding that Aidan had “ bend ” Rebecca ( the formerly considered beat nurse ) made you wish about this unexampled ludicrously spoiled she - vampire . He also had the sad task of patch up his past life with his sister ( a graphic symbol who ’s start up to acquire on me staggeringly ) only to hurl her off in the final act , Harry And The Hendersons - style ( for her own good , by nature ) .
Apologies for the multiple dog quips — but Josh was all but whimpering to save the life-time of the poor break - toothed nurse , after Rebecca decided she would drain her in the skittle alley . Crap , Rebecca fundamentally chafe his look in the horror like it was his own mickle ( it was n’t ) . And all-fired it all if it did n’t work , really well . Check it out :
Mark Pellegrino was once again grotesque as the sibylline - but - care vampire leader Bishop . finger crossed he gets a stand - alone episode of his own in the future .
I ’m queer to see what will take place to the werewolf and vampire pair next . blood line were crossed by the siring of Rebecca ( even though Aidan did n’t do it . ) How can Josh ever really swear him again ? It was n’t much comfort in the end , when Aidan tried to smooth Josh ’s veneration of going to jug over his dead puppy love , by include that this sort of matter happens all the clip . I ’m surely hoping for a “ this will not stand ” moment from the meek werewolf .
The Bad
Sally ’s “ fall . ” I know this was conjecture to symbolize this character ’s despair or loss over not being able-bodied to communicate with her beloved fiance but — and I hate doing this — the BBC version just did the reenactment of the Ghost missy ’s dying 1,000 times better . Maybe it was because in the pilot , it determine up her departure from the live world , and there was ancestry , so it felt dark and served a aim . Here , watching Sally float down the stair was a altogether hollow experience for me .
Rebecca . Why is it that when people become lamia , they right away go out and put on black leather and start acting like Stephen Dorff from Blade ? My land for some heroin addict - like vampires . Rebecca was right smart too together for waking up on a bottom with a strange man and being hook to blood . ( I did like that view , very much , but it came and went right smart too tight ) . Hell , she even knew that Josh was a werewolf . And understandably she was n’t evidence that , because she acted surprised when she smell out his dog aroma . So how the heck did she love he was a werewolf after being a lamia for a few hours ? She was at her absolute good when she was just taste to make Aidan feel like mother fucker . More of that . A mess more of that please . That ’s an sluttish path to break this character ’s “ together ” outside , and a plot point I ’m much more interested in pursuing as opposed to “ vampire in leather act vampirey . ” CORRECTION : Apparently , she ’s been a lamia for much longer than a few hours , a calendar month in fact . I was wrong , my apology . So perhaps she could have learned a matter or two about werewolves .
The Verdict
A lot of good , and a raft of so - so . As long as this show tries to bring out the emotional issue that confront its unremarkable behemoth , then I ’m glad . Take a page from Josh ’s plot line this workweek — it was grand . But once the fiend protrude acting like old movie caricatures , I ’m out . That being said , I ’m 100 % invested in Josh and Aidan . They have caliber chemistry and it ’s reproducible . Plus Sam Witwer in old - fashioned garb ? Yes please , thank you . I ’m patient with Sally — her story is yet to open , and a lot could change as the plot of land wrench start coming .
