A Sacramento Kings fan died while attending the team’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans at Golden 1 Center on Monday, a representative for the organization said.
In astatementissued to the Sacramento Bee, the Kings confirmed that a guest at the arena “had a medical emergency” during the first quarter of the game.
“EMS immediately responded and administered CPR. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest passed away,” the statement said.
The Kings' statement also offered the organization’s “deepest condolences” to the deceased’s “family and loved ones” following the tragedy.
The Sacramento Fire Department toldFox 40, “Golden 1 Center staff was notified that someone was unresponsive. When the engine got there they found a 30’s aged male.”
No additional details have been made public as of Tuesday morning.
The incident did not cause a delay in the game, and Kings players said they only learned about the incident after the game ended.

Speaking to reporters during a postgame interview, Keegan Murray, a forward for Sacramento, said he and his teammates “weren’t aware of” the incident “at all,” according toESPNandMarca.
Murray, 23, added, “As a team, we give our condolences. Hopefully, the family is being taken care of.”
Kings shooting guard Malik Monk reacted to the news after the game, which ended with a Sacramento loss to the Pelicans.
“Heard the news about the fan tonight my condolences go out to the family,” Monk, 25, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Monday’s loss officially eliminated the Kings from the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament.
Sacramento’s next home game at Golden 1 Center is on Dec. 11 when the Kings host the Brooklyn Nets.
