Isla Fisheris no stranger to being the new girl in town.
As a child, she says she wound up moving constantly, thanks to her father’s job as a banker for the United Nations.
Fisher credits the upheaval with becoming a performer. “Because I had to learn to make new friends quickly, the thing that I leaned on was humor and storytelling, so it was a natural fit to want to tell stories as an actor,” she explains.
Her best tip for fitting into a new environment? “I definitely feel like letting your inner idiot out are the best tips for making new friends,” she says. “You make people laugh and they’re nice to you. It’s pretty pretty basic.”
Fisher, who is married to actorSacha Baron Cohen, with whom she has three kids, says that despite her international upbringing, she considers Australia home — which is why she was so happy to shootWolf Like Methere.
“There’s nothing better than getting to go home to Oz to work,” she says. In fact, she brought the whole family along.
