Kate Bosworthis honoring friendHeath Ledgeron what would have been the late actor’s 40th birthday.
The 36-year-old actress shared a black and white photograph of Ledger on her Instagram account Thursday in which she recounted how the two met, including the positive influence he had on her life and the lives of others.
“Doesn’t seem so long ago we were all running around LA, shotgunned into Hollywood + popping off the new millennium’s cork, having a laugh. It was a crazy time,” she wrote in the caption. “I was literally straight out of high school, feeling young & super shy and he was always so sweet within a surreal scene.”
She continued, “I really, really would have loved to have known Heath today, at 40. No limits on what he would have accomplished.”

“I remember coming to work and seeing him — that scene where the Joker throws me off a roof — and seeing him come in and start to do what he was doing, which was the first time I saw it,” she said. “I still think about this sometimes — it’s so hard to be good in a huge movie like that, that’s not about the acting, really. It’s so much easier to be good in a little tiny movie where it’s all about you.”
She continued, “To be amazing like Heath was in a movie that’s got explosions and huge stunt scenes and big sets is a whole other thing. I don’t know if anyone’s ever, ever done that as well as he did inThe DarkKnight.”
After his death, Ledger went on to posthumously win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in 2009 after his death.
